UT inspector murder: Bunty and Sarita convicted

Fast tracking the murder trial of UT police inspector Sucha Singh, district and sessions judge SK Aggrawal on Tuesday convicted dismissed UT constable Basant Singh, alias Bunty, 26, along with his accomplice and beloved Sarita Rani, 23, who is seven months pregnant.
 
The court would pronounce quantum of punishment on December 4.

The duo have been convicted for murdering 57-year-old inspector Sucha Singh, who was due to retire from services on January 31, 2014, on intervening night of June 7- 8.
 
Basant along with his lady love Sarita, had murdered inspector Sucha Singh while on run after double murder in Sonepat. The duo were to catch a bus from Sector 17 when Singh along with home guard volunteer Jatinder Singh on night patrolling had questioned them. Irked over being asked to move to police station Bunty had attacked the inspector.
 
 
The police initially booked the duo for 307 (attempt to murder), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 397 (Robbery or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt). The police had later booked the duo for murder after death of Sucha Singh.
