Sensing strained relations with its political ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), president of the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) Kuldeep Bishnoi said on Monday that his party was in favour of maintaining alliance with the BJP and was still waiting for a final response from the ally before making HJC’s independent manifesto public.

Addressing a public rally at new grain market here, Bishnoi said his party may soon roll out its election manifesto.

“Hamari party chahti hai BJP ke saath chunav ladna. Par agar mere saath dokha hua to aap log insaaf karna,” he said in a direct appeal to his supporters.

Bishnoi said the HJC would not move an inch from the political arrangements done between the HJC and BJP in 2011.

The HJC chief said he had written a letter to the national president of the BJP, Amit Shah and explained that the alliance must be maintained.

“Mein roz cheekh cheekh ke keh raha hoon ke gathbandhan tootna nahin chahiye. BJP apna stand clear kare ke kya woh aaj bhi vadon pe kayam ya mere saath dokha hoga,” he told mediapersons.

Bishnoi added that he was officially not invited or apprised about the forthcoming major political functions of its ally the BJP at Kaithal and Jind.

Addressing the gathering of his supporters, Bishnoi said it was the duty of voters to elect politicians with a clean image.

He alleged that chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was known for promoting caste politics and lopsided development. On the other hand, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), whose top leadership in languishing in jail following conviction in teachers’ recruitment scam, was also contesting polls, he added. “All want a responsible government at the helm and it is the voters who elect their political representatives. It is up to you to elect a clean politician like me or promote those indulging in nepotism and lawlessness,” Bishnoi said.
