The World Punjabi Congress (WPC) is planning to invite an Indian delegation, including experts and Bollywood stars, to Pakistan to attend an international conference here to promote the Punjabi language.
The organisation would nominate an Indian delegation from fields such as literature, art, education, besides professional groups and film stars from Bollywood, to attend the second International Conference on Peace in Lahore to be held from September 18 to 21, said Fakhar Zaman, WPC chairman.
In addition to the Indian team, about 40 participants from 15 other countries will also attend the conference, he said.
The WPC has also nominated new office-bearers for its Indian chapter.
The new office-bearers of the Indian chapters are Prof Deepak Manmohan Singh (director, Punjabi Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala), president; Dr Vaneeta (Sahitya Akademi award winner, New Delhi), vice-president; Prof Ravail Singh (University of Delhi), general secretary; Gurbhajan Gill (writer), secretary; and Veer Davinder Singh Hakam Wala, incharge of press and publicity.
