Paying homage to his Punjabi background, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi says he is ‘very keen’ on taking his new born son to pay obeisance at Harmandar Sahib in Amritsar and make him wear a ‘kada’ which has blessings from the sanctum sanctorum.

“My son is too young to travel, but in a few months I will definitely take him and my nephew Arjun to Harmandar Sahib to seek blessings. I have got a small ‘kada’ made for him in gold, which I will make him wear after it has been blessed there. Even the kada that I wear is from the Golden Temple,” he said, while at an event held recently in Mumbai, announcing the start of TV realty show, India’s Best Dramebaaz, in which Vivek plays a judge along with Anurag Basu and Sonali Bendre.

The thrill of turning a father was evident on the actor’s face, who said he couldn’t wait to be with his son and wife, Priyanka, who are presently in Bengaluru. “Thank God for Skype that lets me see them every few hours,” he smiled, adding that he was sure his son had acting in his genes and would therefore be a ‘dramebaaz’.

On making a television debut as a judge, Vivek said the show’s concept excited him. “I had gone to meet people at Zee TV for the promotion of my film, Jayantabhai Ki Love Story, when they told me about the show. I loved the concept though I wasn’t sure if my packed schedule would let me spare time.

But the channel’s representatives and Anurag and Sonali were very cordial. Also, I love kids and had a great time at the show,” he said, adding that it was special moment for him since his father — yesteryears’ actor Suresh Oberoi — had also made a debut on Zee TV. On being asked why he had taken so long to make a TV appearance, Vivek laughed and quipped, “Itne saalon se zindagi hi ek reality show bani hui thi. (For so many years my life was like a reality show).”

At his candid best, Vivek dodged questions and cracked jokes, forcing Anurag and Sonali to agree that Vivek was the biggest ‘dramebaaz’ they had ever seen. The actor will next be seen in Zilla Ghaziabad and is currently shooting for another film, Grand Masti.
