While recording her statement before the court, the victim said, "I had known Vageesh since 2007 and had developed friendly relations with him. I was under the impression that he would marry me but he (Vageesh) never proposed me for marriage nor did he rape me."

Considering the victim turning hostile the court acquitted Dr Vageesh.

Dr Vageesh was posted as medical officer at the primary health centre in Buria of Yamunanagar, when arrested for rape on the complaint of a medical student, who accused him of sexually exploiting her for three years on the pretext of marriage.

In the complaint, the victim had alleged that the accused raped her in March 2011 at her residence and since then had been exploiting her by showing obscene video clips and photos of her. The police had registered the FIR on July 9, 2013.
