Youth gets year’s jail for molesting Class 7 girl

A local court on Wednesday awarded one-year jail to a 21-year-old youth for molesting a Class 7 student.

The convict, Rohit of Sector 25, has also been directed to pay Rs 2,500. The victim, a student of Class 7, had identified the accused, which proved his guilt.

The UT police on February 20, 2014, had booked Rohit on the complaint of the victim, alleging that he molested her on her way back home after school. The 14-year-old girl had told the police that Rohit had been following her and passing lewd remarks at her for more than a week.

The victim had told the court that on February 20, 2014, Rohit came on a motorcycle, held her by her hand tried to forcibly take her along. She raised an alarm and the accused dropped her outside her house and threatened her before fleeing from the spot.
