The UT administration has relieved Chandigarh Housing Board chair man Satya Gopal of his duties. An Arunachal Pradesh–Goa– Mizoram–Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre IAS officer, Gopal has been transferred to Arunachal Pradesh. The union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had recently directed the UT to relieve the 1998 batch officer. He was handling the slum rehabilitation project.
Sources said two other AGMUT cadre officers posted in Chandigarh, Tanvi Garg and Rodney L Ralte, are also likely to be relieved by next week.
Garg, a 2009-batch officer, holds the charge of MD of Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO), additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and tourism director, while Ralte is the chief executive officer of Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB).
Last year, the administration had extended the term of Prerna Puri, a 2006 batch AGMUTcadre officer, by one year. Puri, who is secretary, information technology, is expected to be relieved shortly. The MHA has approved names of three IAS officers BS Bhalla, Dr Deepak and AN Sharma for transfer to Chandigarh.
The administration has been drawing flak for giving extensions to AGMUT-cadre officers, even as the MHA has been repeatedly asking it to relieve them after completion of their respective terms.
