The Amritsar City Police have arrested a man on the charges of 'sexually harassing' a lady doctor and one of her colleagues at the Vidya Sagar Institute for Mental Health on Friday.
The accused, identified as Chiman Lal, a resident of Chheharta, indulged in obscene acts and gestures intended at the two women at the main gate of the institute, according to the complaint the women have submitted to the police.
"He seemed to be waiting there for us," one of the victims said.
Police have booked Chiman Lal under Sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 294 (obscene acts and songs) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
Woman sub-inspector Sharanjit Kaur, of Majitha Road police station, said that the accused had been arrested.
This new case comes days after patients at the hospital trespassed into the girls' hostel and allegedly molested an inmate in the wee hours of June 12. The inmates had protested against the lack of security at the institute and the hospital authorities had claimed that security would be beefed up.
