The leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Kiran Choudhry on Tuesday lashed out at health and sports minister Anil Vij for, what she said, making irresponsible statements and throwing a dampener on the proposals of building Bansi Lal sports university and a medical college in Bhiwani.
Asking chief minister ML Khattar to stop Vij from making such "anti-people" statements, she held that both projects, demand for which was made by her daughter and former MP Shruti Choudhry, had been sanctioned by the previous UPA government.
"In fact, work was apace for the sports university, the foundation stone of which had been laid by former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, during the previous regime. The state assembly had voted a motion to this effect and the recruitment process too had started," she said in a statement issued here.
A medical college was also sanctioned for Bhiwani, Choudhry said, adding that the existing 300-bed Bansi Lal hospital, the biggest in Bhiwani, was to be upgraded to the level of a medical college and the Centre had asked the state government to provide requisite land for the project, she added.
"Instead of proceeding with land acquisition for the medical college, Vij, is making irresponsible statement, which shows his anti-development and anti-people mindset," Choudhry added.
Vij, a known troublemaker, is making irresponsible statements and has started showing his anti-people face, she alleged, adding that people of Bhiwani wanted the chief minister to clarify if his government backed what Vij said.
"We will not allow it happen. Bansi Lal is the founder of modern Haryana and the people of the state and the country are aware of the huge contribution he had made to the state and the country. Should Mr Vij not retract his statement, the people of Haryana will give him a befitting reply," she added.
She requested Khattar to expedite both projects in the larger public interest, snub his cabinet colleagues and stop them from what she said, making such irresponsible statements.
