Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Haryana Kiran Choudhry on Friday flayed the ML Khattar government for taking a “U-turn” on implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report on agriculture and the promises made to the employees before the assembly elections.

Referring to a statement by agriculture minister OP Dhankar that the Swaminathan panel report would have to await implementation for the want of funds, Choudhry in a release issued here said the minister’s statement not only militated against the stand taken by the BJP when the Congress was in power, but also exposed the double standards of Dhankar.

She said though the BJP had been pressing the UPA government hard for the implementation of the Swaminathan report, especially for MSP which was 50% more than the cost of production of farmers, and even its manifesto made the promise, Dhankar after becoming agriculture minister went back on the issue.

The BJP had also promised if voted to power, it would get the state government employees’ pay-scales on the pattern of Punjab and double the social security pension to `2,000 per month; however, Khattar now said the employees would have to live on what they were getting and should not expect more, she added.
