City lad Kshitij Bajaj secured 249th rank in the Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced), the result of which was declared on Thursday.
A student of Sacred Heart Convent School, Bajaj has scored 95% marks in Class-12 board exams, and is eyeing a seat in one of the Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs).
Out of the top 1,500 All-India ranks, five students are from Ludhiana. These students will be joining IITs to pursue their engineering degree.
Kshitij Bajaj said, “I owe my success to my parents and guidance received from teachers. Regular hard work, teaching methodology and highly-structured planner, along with personal attention, played an important role.”
“Mantra to succeed is proper self-study. One should follow the guidelines of the teachers for proper direction,” Kshitij said. Ujjwal Singla has got 1,327 all-India rank in the test. Ujjwal said, “Constant guidance of my parents and teachers has finally paid off and now I am eligible to pursue my studies from a prestigious institute in the country. Cracking the exam has certainly enhanced my confidence level.”
State-level basketball player makes it to IIT
State-level basketball player Hitesh Bhandari has made it to the Joint Entrance Examination and secured 3,712 all-India rank. Bhandari played for the city basketball team, which was runnerup in the School State Games held at Bathinda in October last year. Bhandari, who has studied at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, has been professionally playing basketball for the past three years.
He had also participated in sprint races at district-level school games.
Expressing his joy on his achievement, he said, “I dedicate this success to my parents and to my school principal Paramjeet Kaur."
