Pankhuri Mittal (26), daughter of local industrialist Rajiv Mittal, who died in a fatal boat accident in Thailand on Sunday was said to be a versatile student during her school years.

Pankhuri along with her husband Yash Agarwal died when the boat they were riding capsised in deep water at Krabi province. Mittal's entire family had gone to Hyderabad to perform the last rites as Agarwal was based there.

Vijay Thapar, a painter by profession taught Pankhuri when she was in the third standard. Thapar said Pankhuri had a natural flair for art and grabbed various techniques of drawing rather quickly.

On the other hand, Vijay Thapar who used to train children of many business houses in Ludhiana, said “The Mittal family brought up their children very well as a result Pankhuri was very respectful toward her elders.”

He also revealed that Pankhuri was a very reserved girl and had a few selective friends. “She was mostly interested in studies and rarely stepped out of the house. She really loved her parents and her younger brother Sushen who was also my student,” said Thapar.

Pankhuri took tuitions from Thapar from 1999 - 2003 and later again in Classs 10.

Pankhuri and Yash got married in Thailand last year and had gone to celebrate her birthday on October 5 when they met with an accident while riding a boat. Both of them were not wearing life jackets.
