City's singing star gets a warm welcome

City lad and Indian Idol runner up Devindra Pal Singh was accorded a warm welcome, on his return from Mumbai by Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar here on Monday.


President and general secretary of GNPS Managing Committee Jasbir Singh and Surinder Singh escorted Devindra from Samrala Chowk in a grand procession.

This procession reached GNPS, Sarabha Nagar, after passing through various parts of the city, where people had gathered to greet their singing star.

A huge crowd of students and parents accompanied by GNPS teachers had gathered to felicitate Devindra at school.

Principal Mona Singh accorded a floral welcome to Devindra. She said Devindra has become an inspiration for students and has proved that hard work was the key to success.

A standing ovation to felicitate Devindra was given by the students and the staff.

Devindra said Indian Idol had given him a platform to showcase his talent. He thanked his school, friends and people of Ludhiana for having supported him whole heartedly. He regaled the audience with his mellifluous voice by a song.

The principal said the support of various educational institutes across Ludhiana was overwhelming. She thanked the media for giving impetus to the campaign for Devindra's success.
