City schools fail to comply with CBSE order to ensure transparency

For better transparency, the the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had asked the schools to upload on their websites a number of details about their institutions by September 15, which most of the city schools failed to do.
The board had asked the schools to upload affiliation details, list of members of the school management committee, pay scale-wise details of staff, including a counsellor and librarian, library details with the number of books, members of the sexual harassment redressal committee, class-wise enrolment of students, and fee details among others.
There are 31 CBSE-affiliated private schools in city and 64 in Ludhiana district.
When this correspondent checked the websites of some city-based CBSE-affiliated schools, it was found that no school had uploaded the complete information on the website as desired by the board.
Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Civil Lines, has not updated the salary structure of the teachers and fee details. There was no information regarding the members of the sexual harassment redressal committee.
Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, website doesn't carry information regarding fee structure, teachers salary details and members of the sexual harassment redressal committee.
The website of Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Phase-2, neither has details about staff's salary and scales nor information about counselor, librarian, members of the sexual harassment redressal committee and fee structure. Green Land Convent School, Chandigarh Road; Green Land Convent School, Subhash Nagar; Green Land Convent School, Civil City; and Ryan International School, Chandigarh Road, too have failed to update the desired information on their websites.
The website of Ryan International School, Dugri, carries a notice saying that the content will be updated soon.
Principal, principal of KVM School, Civil Lines, Navita Puri, said, "The Punjab unaided school association has asked us not to update these details on our website. However, I will check with the school management and will update the required details by tomorrow."
Sister Chantal, principal of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, said, "I have asked the office people of the school to update all the information on the school website. So, we are doing it and there is no need to hide anything as we believe in transparency."
Rajesh Rudhra, chairman, chain of Green Land Schools, said, "It's under process and we are updating the details on the website of all the four branches."
Praveena John, principal of Ryan International School, Chandigarh Road, said, "We have already sent the information to the board and are in the process of updating the information on our website.
CBSE regional head, Panchkula, RJ Khanderao, said, "We will take action against the schools which are not updating their websites with the required information."
