Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society (CKDCS) president Charanjit Singh Chadha on Wednesday handed over the charge of president, Chief Khalsa Diwan Local Committee, Mumbai, to Kulwant Singh Kohli. The CKDCS on this occasion also accepted the resignation of its vice-president Santokh Singh. The general house of the CKD also afforded unanimous approval to the amendments made in the Rules 15 and 17 of the constitution of Chief Khalsa Diwan.
In a statement issued to the press, CKDCS honorary secretary Narinder Singh Khurana said as per the Rule 15 of the CKD Constitution, if the president goes out of country or is not able to perform his duties due to illness or other special reasons, the same will be carried out by the vice-president or in his absence by the resident president with all the powers of the president.
"According to the amendment, in case of vacation of the post of the President due to resignation or on death, the Honorary Secretary shall issue the agenda of elections to fulfill the position of President within two months," he said.
He added that as per Rule 17 if the Honorary Secretary is not eligible to perform his duties being out of country, or due to illness or other special reason, his duties will be carried out by the Additional Secretary. "According to the amendment the President would take responsibility to fulfill the positions of Vice President, Resident President and Honorary Secretary within two months," Khurana added.
