Clash between two groups leaves two injured in Patiala

A clash between two rival groups at lower Mall road near Raghomajra area left a youth injured with gunshots and another with sharp-edged weapons, here on Monday night.

Several cars, along with an ATM kiosk and a sweets shop were also got damaged during the scuffle.

The trouble started when a group gathered in front of a shop at lower Mall and started abusing the rival group. When the other group intervened, the clash started between both groups. Daggers, rifles, swords, sticks and other sharp-edged weapons were used in the fight.

The police registered two FIRs in the case at Kotwali police station. A cross-case was registered on Monday night and an FIR for damaging public property was also registered on Tuesday.

The cross-case was registered under Section 458, 323, 379, 148 and 149 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the complaint of Paramjit Singh, dairy shop owner against Mana, Joi, Rajan and several unidentified persons, all residents of Dheeru ki Majri area of the city.

The Police also registered a separate case under Section 147, 148, 149 and 427 of IPC and 24/54/59 of the Arms Act.

Station house officer (SHO) Jaswinder Singh Tiwana informed that the situation was under control and the clash was the result due to some money problem between both the parties.

He added that they had recovered the CCTV footage of the incident from the cameras installed in the area and investigations were on to arrest the miscreants.
