Class 12 student commits suicide

An 18-year-old girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her house at Luxmi Puri colony of the Salem Tabri area on Sunday. Sukhman Preet Kaur's parents had gone to Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib, Alamgir when the incident took place. The reason behind the suicide is not known yet. Sukhman was a twelfth standard student.

Sukhman Preet Kaur's parents had gone to Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib, Alamgir when the incident took place. The reason behind the suicide is not known yet. Sukhman was a twelfth standard student.

Iqbal Singh, the father of the deceased and a bank employee, said his daughter had refused to go to the shrine along with the family saying she would prefer to stay at home.

He said when they returned on Sunday night they found the room of Sukhman locked from inside.

They broke open the door and were shocked to find her hanging with her 'dupatta'. They pulled her down and took her to hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.

According to inspector Dharampal, station house officer of police station Salem Tabri, no suicide note was recovered from the spot.
