A Class-8 student was admitted to the Dhuri civil hospital on Tuesday night after he was allegedly beaten up by the vice principal (VP) of the school he was studying in.

Harbans Singh of Kaheru village lodged a complaint against Naleena Kumari, vice principal of the Guru Teg Bahadur Public School in Bardwal, for beating up his son Jaspinder Singh. The complainant said the VP beat up his son for no fault on his part.

Talking to HT, Jaspinder said, "I do not know what my mistake was. We were on our way to the art class and we asked the caretaker where our class will be held. At the same time, the VP asked me to meet her. When I met her, she accused me of teasing her and she beat me up with a stick," he added.

Shocked by the bruises on his son's body, Harbans Singh said he rushed his son to the civil hospital where he was admitted for treatment. "We have been in the hospital for the past two days, but the school principal or VP has not come to see my son," rued the father.

Alleging that the Dhuri police were forcing them to reach a compromise, he said, "We requested the police to register an FIR, but they were asking us to solve the issue outside the station."

However, station in-charge at the Dhuri police station said, "We have received the complaint and I have sent policemen to record the student's statement. Action will be taken after the medical report is received."

Meanwhile, the school management refused to provide contact details of the principal.
