When the girl did not return home after school hours, her parents began searching for her. They found her lying on the roadside on the outskirts of Kotli Saru Khan village. In her statement to the police, she claimed that the accused had threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident.

`Verowal police station house officer (SHO) Parmajit Singh Virdi said the duo had been identified by the victim. Tarn Taran superintendent of police (SP, detective) Harvinder Singh said a medical examination of the victim had been conducted and raids were being conducted to nab the accused.
