Police have booked a 21-year-old resident of Noorpur Hakiman village, Palwinder Singh, for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old girl student of Class 9 on Thursday.

Police have booked a 21-year-old resident of Noorpur Hakiman village, Palwinder Singh, for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old girl student of Class 9 on Thursday.

Dharamkot police station investigation officer Major Singh said that a case had registered on a complaint from the victim's father, alleging that her daughter had been abducted on the pretext of marriage.

The family of the girl reportedly found their ward missing from home on Thursday morning.

"Family members looked for the girl at several places, but they failed to locate her. The accused, Palwinder, was also found to be missing from his house. His family also have no clue on his whereabouts," said investigation officer Palwinder Singh.

"We have come to know that Rs 70,000 and two-gram gold is also missing from the house," the complainant added.

When contacted, DSP Sukhdev Singh Brar said, "We are investigating the matter and have recorded the statements of residents of Maujgarh and Noorpur villages. No arrest has been made so far."
