After a location for the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Amritsar, was finalised near Manawala a few days ago, it has now been announced that the classes will begin from July-end.
The Amritsar campus of the elite institute is to come up over 60 acres of flatland on the Amritsar-Jalandhar road. While it may take three years to make it ready, teaching will be done until then at the Punjab Institute of Technology in the Government Polytechnic building nearby. In a press release issued here on Tuesday, it was stated that the IIM-Amritsar, which is mentored by IIM-Kozhikode, will launch its postgraduate programme (PGP) in management with 65 best students from the Common Admission Test (CAT) who had put Punjab campus high in their order of preference.
The admission process is likely to be over by July 20. The fee for the two-year programme is Rs 9 lakh, which includes the cost of accommodation, books, and learning material. “Leading banks will offer educational loans on easy terms to the students interested in joining,” added a press release from the IIM-Kozhikode.
