Clerical staff of various departments of the Punjab government on Wednesday raised slogans against the government for not conceding their demands, including increase in grade pay of clerks, stenos, senior assistants and superintendents.
The clerical staff from various districts of Punjab gathered at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan here to participate in the 23rd annual convention of the State Ministerial Services Association, and raised slogans against the state government for not conceding their demands.
President Sukhwinder Singh and general secretary Raman Kumar Sharma said every year they organise a convention of clerical staff of various departments of the state government.
Sukhwinder said the main objective of the convention was to increase the grade pay of clerks, stenos, senior assistants and superintendents. Our demand included children allowance to the employees, he said, adding that the government should recruit staff at the newly-constituted districts in the state so that employees and public could not face any problem due to shortage of staff.
He said if the government failed to fulfill their demands, they would carry out protest rallies outside deputy commissioner offices of various districts on March 21, and would go on a two-day pen down strike in the state from 25 March.
