Reacting to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal's statement that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann cannot bring any development in the village he has adopted under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, Bhagwant Mann said that the chief minister has actually 'insulted' the scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"I have adopted Benra village under the scheme launched by the Prime Minister for the development of the villages, but now Badal's statement has put a question mark over the scheme," he said, adding, "As the CM thinks that the scheme will not bring any development, I am planning to shun the village after taking the issue in Parliament in the coming budget session."

"If I cannot do anything for Benra village, I want to ask the chief minister how Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa will develop the villages they have adopted under the same scheme," he added.

Mann also slammed the chief minister for not inviting him during the Sangat Darshan programme in his Lok Sabha constituency, saying, "Being an elected representative, I was not invited in the sangat darshan, in future I will oppose the sangat darshan programme if the chief minister will not invite me."
