Haryana chief minister ML Khattar on Tuesday directed the officials concerned to carry out a survey of the proposed 200-km Bawana-Sonepat-Panipat-Uchana-Indri-Yamunanagar Expressway along the western Yamuna canal in consultation with the irrigation department.
The proposed project aims at decongesting traffic on NH 1, at Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal and Yamunanagar. Out of the 200 km, 160 km fall in the national capital re gion ( NCR) area and the rest in Yamunanagar district. The project would cost about Rs 1,000 crore for the construction of highway with 10-metre carriageway.
While the state government will spent Rs 150 crore on the project, the remaining cost will be borne by NCR Planning Board (NCRPB). It would have four railway over-bridges (ROBs) and 10 flyovers.
Presiding over a meeting of public works (building and roads) department here, Khattar said he would also take up the Rai Malikpur (Rajasthan border)-Narnaul-Mahendergarh-Dadri-Bhiwani-Kharak corridor with the Union ministry of road transport and highways for declaring it a national highway.
The chief minister directed that rest houses at Panchkula and Gurgaon be constructed on the patter n of Haryana Bhawan, Delhi.
