Chief minister Virbhadra Singh has expressed grief over the death of former Himachal education minister Sagar Chand Nayyar, who passed away at his native town Chamba on Sunday. Nayyar, 88, was a close aide to the chief minister till his retirement from active politics.
In his condolence message, Virbhadra said Nayyar was a noble soul, man of great discipline and an able administrator.
“The void created due to his death will be difficult to fill up,” said the chief minister, adding that Nayyar's death was a great loss to the people of the state.
“Besides being a politician of repute, Nayyar was known for his simplicity and decision making. His contribution in the politics of the state cannot be forgotten,” the chief minister added.
Virbhadra prayed for peace of the departed soul and conveyed his sympathies with the bereaved family members.
Two times legislator from Chamba assembly segment, Nayyar remained the education minister during Virbhadra- led 1985-1990 Congress government.
