CM launches pulse polio immunisation drive

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday launched the second phase of pulse polio immunisation drive by administering polio drops to the children between 0 and 5 years of age at Jawalamukhi in district Kangra.

Briefing about the marathon campaign, Kangra chief medical officer (CMO) Dr BM Gupta said that as many as 1,070 polio booths had been set up across the district wherein 1,34,402 children would be administered polio drops.

“The Booths have also been set up in various public places, including railway stations, bus stands, temples and construction sites,” said Dr Gupta, adding that the trained volunteers would administer polio on Monday and Tuesday to left out children if any, by going door to door.

Across the state, 5,858 booths have been setup where estimated 6,83,536 children will be administered polio drops by as many as 11,736 teams with a workforce of 23,472 health personnel.
