Chief minister Virbhadra Singh here on Saturday refuted allegations that he had implicated Doon MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary in a murder case.
Refuting the allegations levelled by Chaudhary, the CM said he had no connection with the case. “How can the Himachal government play a role in this?” he said and described the allegations as “totally false”. The CM said the BJP was raking up the issue unnecessarily.
“The BJP is frustrated; it is running away from real issues by raking up a non- issue,” said Virbhadra.
He said that on December 12, 2012, it came to the notice of Baddi police that a criminal case had been registered against Chaudhary and others in Panchkula, Haryana, on a complaint by the father of the deceased woman, Jyoti.
During investigation by Panchkula police, the names of Chaudhary and his three accomplices had cropped up.
“Initially, Panchkula police conducted raids for arresting them. Thereafter, a formal request along with a copy of non-bailable warrants against the four accused were handed over to Baddi police on December 21, 2012,” he said. “A special team was constituted by Baddi police and searches at possible hideouts were carried out,” he said, adding that Chaudhary surrendered in a Panchkula court on January 8, 2013.
