CM spells out more sops, varsities

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday announced a sports university after the name of former chief minister Bansi Lal in Bhiwani, a law university after the name of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar at Rajiv Gandhi education city, Kundli in Sonepat district and upgradation of regional centre of Kurukshetra University at Jind as university.

Hooda also announced to set up two regional centres of Bhagat Phool Singh Women University, Khanpur in Sonepat district, one at Lula Ahir in Rewari district and one at Kanya Gurukaul at Faral, Narwana in Jind district. He also announced to set up a regional centre of Maulana Azad Urdu University, Hyderabad at Nuh in district Mewat. He also announced two new medical colleges in Bhiwani and a Central University at Mahendergarh.

Hooda announced that 50% concession in the bus fare would be given to those above the age of 65 years in Haryana Roadways buses even though women above the age of 60 years are already availing this facility.

While giving a major relief to the auto rickshaw owners, three wheelers and goods carriers having weight of one tonne, Hooda announced that they would be given the facility of paying one-time road tax and passenger tax which would be in the range of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 at the rate of 1% of value of auto rickshaw. This would give them a big relief from paying this tax at the rate of Rs 1,500 every year.

Furthermore, they would also be covered under the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna and in case of damage to their auto rickshaw on account of accident; they would be given compensation to the extent of `1lakh. Hooda said that the auto rickshaw owners would also be given interest subvention to the extent of 5% on the loans raised by them for buying autos.

It may be recalled that there are about 1.40 lakh auto rickshaw registered in the state. About 12,000 to 15,000 more auto rickshaws are registered every year.

Hooda also announced to increase the monthly allowance being given under the Ladli Social Security Allowance Scheme from Rs 500 to Rs 750.

He announced that 13,000 new safai karamcharis would be appointed in the urban areas which would be in addition to the 65,000 posts for which the recruitment process was in progress.
