Slamming the Congress for politicising issues concerning the peace and harmony in the state, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said it was unfortunate that the party was politicising the killing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Brig Gagneja for electoral gains.
Interacting with mediapersons after offering condolences to Gagneja’s family, the chief minister said the Congress has a notorious track record of dividing people on communal lines for attaining power in the state.
Paying tributes to the slain leader, Badal described Gagneja as a suave leader who was committed to the welfare of the masses. He said the death of Brig Gagneja was a huge personal loss for him as he shared cordial ties with him.
When asked why the police failed to get a clue about the Gagneja’s killers in the 18-day investigation into the case, Badal declined to comment, saying the CBI was probing the case.
The CM assured the Gagneja family all possible help. “Every Punjabi is indebted to the unparalleled sacrifice made by Brig Gagneja,” he said.
Legislator KD Bhandari, chairman Kapurthala district planning committee Sarabjeet Singh Makkar, SGPC member Paramjit Singh Raipur and DGP Suresh Arora were present.
