Brown Memorial Hospital Employees Union of Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) came forward in support of Kalvari Church and demanded removal of CMCH chairman Dr Rajinder Gyani, director Dr AG Thomas, and all CMCH administrators.

Union's general secretary BM Fredrick said, “They took the decision of giving contract to the company owned by the chairman's son and they hid the facts too. Thus, all of them should be sacked and legal action should be taken against them.”

Fredrick said, “The contract was given for `2,160 per square foot, whereas the market rate is much less than this. A sub committee also submitted its report in this regard and also confirmed the allegations.”

He also opposed the management's proposal to shift the hostels at a distance of 20-25 km from the hospital. He said it would create problems for students and trainees.

Fredrick further alleged that labour laws were not being implemented in the hospital. He also pointed out the poor facilities for the patients and their relatives in the hospital and said that even the benches were not provided to the relatives of patients to sit and wait.
