SD College organised a function on Tuesday to celebrate winning the coveted Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy by Punjabi University, Patiala, consecutively for the third time. Vice-chancellor Jaspal Singh was the chief guest for the occasion.

President Pranab Mukherjee had recently presented the trophy to the V-C at the National Sports and Adventure Awards function at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh announced doubling the allowance payable to students participating in inter-college events.

College public relations officer Shoaib Zafar said, "About ten students of our college had participated in different inter-university competitions which contributed to winning the prestigious MAKA Trophy,."
Director of sports, Punjabi University, Raj Kumar Sharma said, "We won the trophy by defeating over 500 universities, but our chief motive was not to win the MAKA trophy. Producing players of international calibre remains our top priority."

College students also presented a cultural programme on the occasion.
