Khalsa College

Since my school days, I had a profound admiration for the Khalsa College, Amritsar. I used to stop and admire the historical building and dreamt of studying there.

In 1998, I joined the college to pursue my BA. On the first day, being scared of the college principal who was quite particular about boys carrying a well-tied turban. I also carried a Kesri (orange) colour turban. I was lucky enough to get seniors like Amrinder Gill, Rajiv Thakur, Chandan Prabhakar and Rajiv Dhingra on campus.

They shared their experiences and inculcated a competitive spirit in me by teaching me to be conscious of time in my singing. They and other students of the college took me to the canteen. Today, whatever confidence I possess is because of my campus days.

I remember Kapil Sharma, Bharti and others occasionally stopping by to hear my compositions.

Participation in youth festivals, inter-university competitions helped me get over stage fear. The Wadali tag always kept me in the limelight. Thanks to my music, Punjabi department head Sareen Saheb gave me instruments and other facilities. My success is due to my college friends and teachers.
