To celebrate the World Environment Day which was on June 5, Ludhiana College of Engineering and Technology, Katani Kalan, in association with Radio Mantra organised a seminar on "Say No to Polythene, Go Green"theme on Tuesday.

Representatives from non-government organisation (NGO) JCI and other sponsors i.e. Central Bank of India, Crompton Fans, Thind Dental Clinic, Grace Beauty Clinic and Patel Hospital also participated in the event.

The purpose of this event was to sensitise the youngsters about the negative effects of using polythene/plastic bags. Experts during their presentation shared some eye-opening figures on how polythene bags are harmful for the environment.

The organisers distributed jute bags to the participants to encourage environment-friendly living.

Pawan Kumar, principal, Ludhiana College of Engineering & Technology, talked about the green chemistry and urged the students to follow 12 commandments of this philosophy.

Kumar thanked the organisers for this corporate social responsibility initiative.
