After the state government agreed to revise the regularisation policy of unauthorised colonies in state, the colonisers and property dealers association has heaved a sigh of relief.

Hailing the decision, the representatives of the association from districts across the state in a gathering here on Saturday said that the new policy will make colonisers and property dealers go for the regularisation of their colonies compared to the earlier policy.

State president of the association, Kultar Singh Jogi said that the government has taken the right step by revising the policy of regularisation of unauthorised colonies in state. He said that most of the colonisers in the district will start thronging the office of Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) to apply under the policy from Monday onwards.

An officer with GLADA said that since they have received the copy of the notification now, they were expecting a big rush of colonisers to apply under the policy from Monday.

Importantly, the colonisers had expressed resentment against the policy announced by Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority on June 26 alleging that the rate fixed for depositing charges under the policy was extremely high and colonisers and property dealers were not in a position to deposit the same. After much hue and cry by colonisers in this regard, state government had agreed to revise the policy.
