Sukhbir said he took up the issue with the defence minister and added that the Punjab government has also sent a letter to the ministry concerned to use the airport for passenger activities.

He also said the state government would spent Rs 10,000 crore on building infrastructure in the state. Out of it, Rs 4,000 would be spent on sewerage, drinking water, street lights in 150 towns.

A Rs 5000-crore project has also been sanctioned for building rural infrastructure. Adopting a tough stance against illegal mining activities, Badal directed all the SSPs to register cases against all accused.

He said projects worth Rs 18,000 crore have been sanctioned to make Punjab a power surplus state in the country.
