Deputy commissioner Arun Shekri has issued strict instructions to officials concerned to complete the Aadhaar card enrolment work in the district by July 15. Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the Aadhar card project, Sekhri said the target to link savings accounts of beneficiaries of various government schemes with Aadhaar should be complete by June 20.

He said the government is in process to make online the process of payments of welfare schemes therefore it is necessary that all beneficiaries should have Aadhaar linked to savings account.

The DC added that 90% enrolment work has been completed in the district. He said 30,000 beneficiaries under 15 welfare schemes would get direct online payments from July 1, 2013. The liquid petroleum gas (LPG) subsidy would also be sent directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries therefore Aadhaar card is necessary for all to avail of this benefit.

The DC instructed heads of all educational institutions to ensure that all students have Aadhaar cards. He instructed the officials concerned to fix a specific day for each institution to enrol students for Aadhaar cards. He said officials and institutions should send names of nodal officers by June 14.

The DC added that special mobile vans with UID machines would be used to prepare Aadhaar cards of disabled and elderly.
