Uncertainty continues over when the Ludhiana Effluent Treatment Society elections would be held.
A meeting of top officials District Industries Center (DIC) was held on Thursday evening to discuss the issue.
While the polls were schedule to be held on December 10, Chief executive officer (CEO) candidate Gurmeet Singh Kular filed an appeal with LETS chairman after his nomination papers were rejected for not providing all details mentioned in the form.
Kular claims the form given to him did not have a section due to which he could not provide all his details.
Sources said the impasse could result in a deferring of polls.Meanwhile, sources also claim that there were some industrialists who were exerting political pressure to postpone the elections.
“Some persons whose nominations have been rejected are even exerting legal pressure to force officials to postpone the polls,” said sources. Nominations of Gurmeet Singh Kular and Avtar Singh, who had filed their nominations for the CEO’s post and that of Harjit Singh Sondh who had filed his nomination for the post of director was rejected on November 17.
