The Congress general secretary on Wednesday alleged that BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and LK Advani had tried to remove the names of 49 RSS and BJP workers from the first information report(FIRs) in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in New Delhi during the NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
AICC general secretary and Punjab Incharge Shakeel Ahmed addressed the party workers meeting here. He alleged that instead of providing justice to the victims, Advani and Jaitley, former home minister and law minister, respectively, in the NDA government were now accusing the Congress government of not providing justice to the victims.
Shakeel Ahmad said that this was revealed by two English dailies one of which has become the BJP's mouth piece in 2002.
He said both the SAD and the BJP were now raking up the issue again and again to take a political mileage. He said the two parties were now sure of their defeat as they had been exposed before the public.
Commenting on the ` 300 crore property owned by Robert Vadra, Shakeel said that his (Vadra) name was unncessarily being dragged into controversy as he was connected to the Gandhi family.
He said not only the real estate firm DLF had given in writing that they had not favoured Vadra but three IAS officers had also given clean chit to Vadra after Ashok Khemka, a Haryana government IAS officer had dragged his name into the alleged illegal land deal.
He said more than 10,000 families of Delhi alone were owning properties more than `300 crore.
Answering a question about the Congress MLA from Amritsar, OP Soni's involvement in the illegal drug trade in Punjab Shakeel Ahmad said that these were just media reports and if anything comes out in investigation and Soni was found guilty the party would definitely take action against him.
He said the names of two cabinet ministers along with three other Akali leaders had once again acoem to the fore and lets see what SAD patron and CM Parkash Singh Badal initiates action against his ministers.
