Cong demands action against SSP for ignoring NCSC's instructions

Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress has written a letter to National SC Commission requesting its vice-chairman Raj Kumar Verka to take necessary action against Nawanshahr SSP for ignoring his instructions and supporting Akali goons, while suppressing Dalits.

State vice-president said that the incident of the suicide of Sushewal sarpanch ending his life had again brough to light the apathy of the state government towards the common man.

She said that Raj Kumar Verka had instructed the SSP Nawanshahr to personally look into the case. However, SSP had not even visited the victim's family even once.

"The vice-chairman had even asked the deputy commissioner to provide a monetary grant of Rs 5 lakh to the deceased sarpanch's family, but even that has not bee done," said Mehta.
