Cong demands CBI probe into Gurkeerat murder case

The Congress workers staged a demonstration at Verka on Sunday demanding CBI probe into the murder of 11-year old Gurkeerat Singh, who was killed about two years ago.


The Punjab police have failed to trace the alleged culprits do far.

Congress president Navdeep Singh Hundal was also present on the occasion.
Rintu said the local police had failed to obtain even a single clue in the case till date. He claimed that either the police were not serious about solving the case or there were certain compulsions they were facing.

"If the state government can hand over the Vidhu Jain murder case in Malerkotla to the CBI, then there is no reason why this case cannot be given to the central investigative agency," he said while addressing the protesters.

Verka residents held a protest in this regard a couple of days back. Angrez Singh, the victim's father, has already moved the Punjab and Haryana high court for a CBI inquiry.
