Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) general secretary Fateh Jang Singh Bajwa will be opening his office here on Monday. On the occasion, Baba Manmohan Singh from Patiala will perform ‘ardas’ and will inaugurate the office.

Bajwa said he felt that the base of the Congress had been eroded from Gurdaspur and that was why he planned to open an office there. He said his aim was to strengthen the party in the Gurdaspur assembly constituency.

When asked if he was interested in contesting the upcoming assembly elections from Gurdaspur constituency, Bajwa said it was for the party to decide whether it would field him or someone else.

He, however, said while working in Gurdaspur, he would take all rank and file of the party along.
Meanwhile, local Congress leader Raman Bahl has not reacted over the move, so far.

Bajwa, who is younger brother of PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa, has already opened his offices in Sri Hargobindpur, Batala and Qadian in Gurdaspur district.

He said he had been opening the offices just to serve the locals effectively round the clock. The people of these areas should not feel neglected by the party, he said, so he had decided to be active in Gurdaspur too.
