Cong protests against rejection of nomination

Alleging that nomination papers of some of the candidates backed by it were rejected on frivolous grounds, Fatehgarh Sahib MLA and his supporters staged a protest on Saturday.

Alleging that nomination papers of some of the candidates backed by it were rejected on frivolous grounds, Fatehgarh Sahib MLA and his supporters staged a protest on Saturday.

Nagra said he had met election observer Pritam Singh three days ago and lodged a complaint with him that nomination papers of several congress-backed candidates were rejected under pressure from Akalis.

He said the election observer had assured to submit a report within 48 hours, but nothing had been done even after the lapse of 72 hours.

He said they will intensify their struggle and move Punjab and Haryana high court for justice.

The election observer said he had received 20 complaints and are were being investigated. Senior SAD leader and Zila Parishad member Ajaib Singh Jakhwali said Congress MLA was leveling baseless allegations.
