A garden gym was inaugurated at Rose Garden in the city on Wednesday. The inauguration was done by Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu. Other Congress leaders were also present on the occasion.
The gym has been set up by the Congress leaders.
MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said, with the setting up of the gym, he has fulfilled one of his promises made during the Lok Sabha elections last year.
Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu said everyone is concerned about his or her health. “The garden gym is the first of its kind in Punjab. Machines have been installed in the open. Not only youngsters but also our elders and women will be immensely benefited by exercising in the fresh air. They will not have to pay even a penny for that,”he added.
According to the Congress leaders, they have already planned to set up same facilities at Mini Rose Garden, Leisure Valley and Rakh Bagh.
There are 11 machines. A large number of residents appreciated the initiative taken by the Congress leaders.
Satinder Singh, 60, a visitor to Rose Garden, said, “This is a very good initiative of the Congress leaders. People should use these machines to remain fit.”
Congress councilor from ward 53, Gurpreet Singh Gogi, said, “I am very thankful to the party for sanctioning `28 lakh to set up machines in four parks of the city.”
The instructor of the firm that has done the installation work, said this concept is laudable as people apart from enjoying the nature’s beauty can have exercises. The machines are very simple to operate, thus require no trainer, he said.
