Whereas the Shiromani Akali Dal has already made the denial of ticket to a Ramdasia Sikh by the Congress an election issue, the Chamar Maha Sabha in a statement has condemned the allotment of the Lok Sabha ticket for Fatehgarh Sahib reserved seat to Sadhu Singh Dharamsot by the Congress.

"While Dharamsot is from the Bazigar community, which has less than 50,000 votes, the Ravidas (Chamar) community has over 4 lakh votes," said Paramjit Singh Kainth, president of the sabha.

"This choice is part of a conspiracy," alleged Kainth. Last time, the Chamar Maha Sabha extended support to the Congress.

"If the Congress does not change its decision on the party candidate from this seat, the sabha will chalk out its strategy for the Lok Sabha election accordingly," said Kainth.

He said while distributing the party ticket the high command of the Congress had ignored the Ravidas community.

"While the Jat Sikhs, with a population of 27 per cent, have been allotted six ticket, the Chamar community, with over 20 per cent votes of the state, have been given only two ticket and that too in the Doaba region alone. The Malwa region has been ignored," said Kainth. "This wrong choice of candidates will result in heavy losses to the Congress in the Malwa region," he claimed.
