Office-bearers and workers of district Congress committee led by its president Jugal Kishore Sharma offered prayers at the Golden Temple and the Akal Takht on Monday for the good health of Sarabjit Singh, the condemned Indian prisoner who is battling for life in a hospital in Pakistan following an attack on him in a Lahore jail.
Condemning the attack on Sarabjit, Sharma urged the Pakistan government to send him to India for treatment. He also urged the Pakistan government to initiate strict action against the accused. He alleged that the government across the border did not pay much attention to the security of Sarabjit despite the fact that there were fears that he could be attacked.
"Sarabjit's attackers should be arrested at the earliest and awarded the severest punishment," said the DCC president.
Others present on the occaion included Pramod Bhatia, Om Prakash Kanojia, Prabhdayal Mahajan, Ravi Bakshi, Surinder Bittu, Abbas Raza, Amrit Pal Singh, Harish Srivastava, Joshil Rai, Deepak Sharma and other party workers.
