Congman among four booked for assaulting YAD leader

Nurmahal police on Sunday booked Congress leader Avtar Singh alias Kala and his son Sukhdeep Singh along with two others, all residents of Ramewal village, for attacking a Youth Akali leader Jagdish Singh.

The victim, a resident of Ajtanni village, said in a complaint to the police that he was assisting his co-villagers in filing nomination papers when the accused attacked him on Saturday, while he was standing in a private school here. The accused beat him up, removed his turban, snatched a gold chain and threatened him.

SHO Vijay Kanwarpal said that a case under sections 34(committing crime with common intention), 323(voluntarily causing hurt), 295-A(deliberate and malicious act to outrage religious feeling of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs),382(snatching) and 506( criminal intimidation) of the IPC has been registered. No arrests have been made, he added.
