Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday said Punjab Congress chief president Capt Amarinder Singh was hopelessly depending on the “leftover” and “rejected” candidates of other parties.

“Ironically, a national party that brags about winning a two-third majority and forming the next government will find it difficult to manage even one third of the 117 assembly constituencies,” said Sukhbir.

“If the Congress was confident, it would not have lapped up the leftovers of other parties,” said the deputy CM.

Sukhbir suggested to the Congress that it should defer announcement of its candidates by some days till the SAD-BJP combine declares its candidates as it might grab some more from the dustbin of these parties.
