Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has said that no party would be able to form the next government at the Centre without the support of her party.
She criticised the Congress and the BJP for ignoring the poor and the downtrodden. Addressing an election rally here in favour of party's candidate from Hisar Lok Sabha seat Mange Ram Verma, the BSP chief said, "Both the parties have always worked against the interests of the Dalits and the poor. They tailored policies to make the rich richer."
Mayawati said that the Congress and the BJP had been ruling the country and both had failed to improve the lot of the poor people.
She said that it was high time that people stop giving chances to the Congress or BJP as they had been tried and tested several times. "Now, it is time to vote and support BSP," she said, adding, "During our rule in Uttar Paradesh, we did not acquire even a single inch land of the farmers. Instead we gave surplus government land to the small farmers on lease."
She claimed that the approach of the country's largest political parties - Congress and BJP - was sectarian and parochial. She said that the rights of the backwards were being curtailed by allotting their share (reservation) to others. She said that backlog of government jobs reserved for Dalits and backwards was increasing day by day.She made a fervent appeal to the people to vote for BSP candidate Mange Ram Verma.
