District Congress committee president Mohan Lal Jhumba, who had been on a fast-unto-death in front the Canal Colony police station since Wednesday, was picked up by the police and admitted to the civil hospital on Thursday night.

On the second day of his fast for demanding suspension of Canal Colony police station SHO Gurpreet Singh for alleged misbehaviour with him at the police station, Congress workers were protesting in front of the police station where Jhumba had been sitting on a fast-unto-death.

SP (city) Narinder Pal Singh said that, as per the directions of the duty magistrate, and keeping in view the health of the protesting Congress leader, the police took him to the hospital on Thursday night and was fed there.

Meanwhile, Congress has announced to continue the protest and a meeting of Congress leaders has been scheduled for Saturday to chalk out a strategy for going ahead with the protest for demanding suspension of the SHO.
