A notice has been issued to the sitting Congress MLA by a returning officer for violating the Model Code of Conduct. The notice was issued yesterday by Returning Officer Chander Gian to Joginder Pal Jain who had hosted a party at a local marriage palace on February 18. Polling for this Assembly took place on January 30.

An enquiry will take place after receiving Jain's reply the Returning Officer said. SAD candidate Paramdeep Singh Gill had lodged a complaint that Jain had hosted a party on February 18 which is in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Meanwhile Jain told reporters on Saturday that he had not yet received the notice from the Returning Officer and claimed that he did not know what violation has been made. He said that he had hosted a party for some friends. "The party was not concerning the elections and was not given to thank the people" he said.
